    What’s in store for ’24?

Everything you need to know about the year ahead for Aussie TV.

It’s been almost five months since Australian broadcasters presented their slate of programming and innovation for 2024. And a whole lot has happened since then. So even if you made it along to the Upfronts, you’d be forgiven if some of the finer details have slipped your mind.

To refresh your memory, we’ve prepared the following recap.

With an unbeatable track record of driving brand awareness, sales and boosting the performance of other media channels, there’s a reason Total TV is the first on and the last off the plan for media buyers.

In 2024, the combination of programming and innovation will see Australia’s broadcasters supercharge the audience and advertising experience.

Here’s what is in store for the next 12 months.

    Seven

    Innovation

In 2024, Seven will roll out Phoenix, a total TV trading system. Phoenix brings together the reach and audience of the screens of Seven for brands to invest in across the capital cities, regional Australia and digital.

Phoenix uses inventory optimisation and AI audience prediction engines to deliver guaranteed results enabling advertisers to do more with their budgets, reach more people, more efficiently and effectively, with even more accountability.

Phoenix means customers can buy Seven’s audiences at the touch of a button, with 7REDiQ data overlay and real-time reporting. The platform creates a connected, seamless experience for advertisers increasing effectiveness and leading to the death of makegoods.

New partnerships with View Media Group and Raiz Invest will give clients a deeper understanding of how Australians are spending and behaving.

Roundup and investment app Raiz Invest will release transaction-level-based audience insights that brands will be able to activate across all devices. View Media Group uses AI and machine learning modelling to predict seller and buyer market trends and demand.

A partnership with cloud, data and AI company, Databricks, which uses AI to drive contextual, relevant advertising experiences follows the launch of Seven’s personalisation engine – built with Amazon Web Services (AWS) – which delivers customised recommendations and enhanced content discovery to 7plus users.

The partnership enables Seven to predict what the audience on 7plus will be over the next seven days, to a level of accuracy of over 91 per cent.

    Programming

Seven’s programming lineup for 2024 includes returning favourites as well as new formats.

Fresh in 2024 is Dream Home. Hosted by Dr Chris Brown, the reality competition sees six pairs of everyday Aussies battle it out room by room to create new homes. Dr Chris Brown will also host Once In A Lifetime where he will be pushed to his limits in the pursuit of the ultimate animal encounter taking the country’s biggest personalities along… as his veterinary assistant.

On the reality front, Stranded On Honeymoon Island is a radical dating experiment that sees couples matched together following a speed dating event, before being stranded on a deserted island in nothing but their wedding attire while Made in Bondi will follow the lives and loves of Sydney’s young, social elite.

Tapping the rich true crime vein, Australia’s Most Dangerous Prisoners will outline the crimes that landed men and women in Australia’s high-security jails through first-hand accounts by ex-inmates, former correctional officers, journalists and forensic psychologists. Nine

    Innovation

Nine has unveiled a united media content ecosystem that allows brands to reach 98 per cent of Australians in a campaign window stretching nearly 10 months, leading up to Olympic and Paralympic Games coverage.

This will give brands access to premium integrations that share their stories and help build excitement on the road to Paris.

As teams including the Matildas, the Dolphins and athletes and para-athletes prepare for Paris 2024, Nine will provide customisation through themed content and brand extension opportunities that weave across Nine’s portfolio of assets.

When the 9Now homepage is transformed across connected TVs in October, it will be accompanied by new TV show and genre sponsorship integrations.

Nine has announced plans to expand its e-commerce media solutions allowing advertisers to embed their products and benefit from the online sales generated by referrals from Nine’s multi-platform network.

Nine Ad Manager, a self-serve tech platform utilising artificial intelligence, will give Australian small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) the ability to buy video advertising on 9Now, target to postcode level and build video creative using AI.

The platform collates images, text, branding and colour palettes from the business’s website, creating a scripted video with AI-generated voice-over – all produced in under a minute.

Nine’s retail media partnership program will amplify and extend the omnichannel ecosystem of its retail media partners. The program, named RLTX, will help advertisers multiply the return on their retail media investment using its suite of assets, content and first-party data.

    Programming

Nine’s drama slate includes Human Error which follows Detective Holly O’Rourke and her homicide team as a seemingly open-and-shut murder investigation threatens to destroy her career, her family, and her faith in justice.
